So there is a roller coaster in the mall. Yeah. A roller coaster. In the mall. Ludicrous.
Villaggio Mall is the premiere mall in Doha, and I finally had a wander around most of it. The mall is styled on The Venetian Hotel In Las Vegas, which I find ironic. It looks Italian, but it's based on an American hotel. The mall is beautifully presented and is split into sections - such as food or the high end shops. We were too intimidated by the Lamborghini parked outside the entrance to the shops like Burberry, Fendi, Bugalri, Valentino, Tiffany & Co, Cartier etc to actually go into the expensive part, but I will one day!
Once inside we went to the fair ground. There were carousels, and a roller coaster and various rides (This was about 11.30 and they were still busy with children and young-at-heart adults).
You can catch a gondola down the middle of the mall. They are motorised, though, and the punter just stands of the back and the stick is used to steer, rather than propel the boat. Cheating, in my mind :D
The mall is split into times of the day - sometimes the sky is painted with stars and the moon, and the area is lighted by street lamps, and other parts are designed to remind you of a summers day.

As mentioned in previous posts - Carrefour is a large chain with stores in the big malls. It's supermarket part offers a great range of food, with some familiar brands and good quality. It's not the cheapest, but I believe you get what you pay for. The other part has everything from laptops to shoes to frying pans to sheets, but the quality is not as high here. Below is a shot i took from the checkouts, about halfway down the store. So imagine that space, times two!
The food in the mall is varied and many. The American chains are strong with Maccas, KFC, Applebee's, T.G.I Fridays, Krispy Kreme (could go on forever) beside Italian, Indian and Arabic restaurants. There is also the Cold Stone Ice Cream which is hands down The Most Awesome Thing Ever.
Make sure you watch the video!
This video is of the Cold Stone and how they prepare your ice cream. The key feature is the freezing cold stone workbenches, which allow them to manipulate the ice cream without it melting. It was like going to a show, and they got even more enthusiastic after the cameras came out! Please excuse the awful camera work and editing, but it was too exciting to focus on the video and not on the entertainment! My ice cream flavour was caramel, fudge, cookie dough and chocolate chips. The guy who made mine was very enthusiastic about my flavours - he said "That is the right way to do it!" Hehe.
A-ma-zing!!! The mall looks so surreal.
