So there has been some noise about the lack of posts in recent times, and I must agree. I don't have anything extraordinary to report and that in itself is exciting. It is nice to finally achieve a sense of normality and routine. But in an effort to keep in touch and update you I will write something about anything.
School is going well. I enjoy my class and the initial frustrations are either becoming less, or easier to cope with. I have just started a theatre sports club on Wednesdays with an Irish girl called Shell. It is great to just walk through the gate in the morning and I have the Before School Routine down to a fine art - about 20 min from waking until I'm in my classroom. (Update: Huge upsets at school! both our Head Principal and Primary Principal have up and quit, or been fired, depending on which rumour you are paying attention to! Its been hectic. I shouldn't say more but suffice it to say its been fun for all.)
Tomorrow we have someone from the school coming to look at our bathrooms and hope that steps will be taken to change it so we don't have permanent puddles and foot prints. I have also been busy making this place feel like a home (see pictures). I have a different atheistic here - the flowers and butterflies have been replaced by the middle eastern colours and patterns. (Update: They were fairly understanding and it looks like they will be doing something to the tune of putting glass doors in. Wooo!)
I got some dresses copied by a tailor here. I got the fabric from the souk and now have enough dresses for each day of the week. I am really happy with them. They cost about 270 Riyal all up ($100NZD).
My apartment is beginning to look pretty good, and so it should for all i have been spending! Here is a visual tour:
AAAANNNNDDD some random miscellany for you:

The back - it has a stretchy bit at the back - they did an awesome job. The one they were copying was a really stretchy fabric so this was their crafty solution! |

It doesn't look it - but this is a very bright purple. It got heaps of compliments when I wore it today! |

This is the dress I am working towards - same design but in this fabric. I need 3 metres at 150 QR a metre ($50 NZ) plus the tailor so I am waiting until after India. |
The rugby is driving me up they wall - the NZ games are on while I am at school. Last week I made it through until 10 min before the end of school and someone told me the score. Tomorrow I am leaving my phone at home so I don't check Facebook during the day and I am wearing a sticker that tells people not to tell me the score. I need to make it from 11am (kickoff) to 7pm when the replay starts. I also have a lot more riding on it than I would back home as this place is riddled with supporters of the other teams and we have all been talking smack at each other!
