Reminisingapore

Setting up my blog for my trip to Japan tomorrow, I realised I had not yet put up my Singapore leg of my January trip! So here it goes - mainly a photo spread, as there was not much to report with 3 days of travel by myself. I spent a solid day on Orchard Road shopping with my remaining dollars and the other two wandering around reminiscing from my childhood. Traveling alone has it's benefits, but 3 days by myself in a huge metropolitan was enough for me.

Classic Merlion shot.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

A maine-coon at a cute little cat cafe, a lovely stop for about an hour during a long day of lots of walking.

My favourite temple as a child was directly opposite my capsule hotel!

This was sooo good I went back and got it again before heading to the airport on my last night.

Picking up my godson's present.

Below: Using archaic means to find my way to where I used to live, as Holland Village was outside the bounds of my downloadable offline maps. Going from Holland Village MRT station on the far left to Olina Lodge on the far right.

I remember this 7 Eleven - identical to 20 years ago!

Perspiring up the hill..,

That's it... will I recognise it...

I do! We lived in the middle row of balconies, 3 from the far end. (checked and confirmed with parents)

I learnt to roller-blade here.

I learnt to play tennis here.

I learnt to swim here. Our apartment to the top right, the middle balcony that is cut in half.

It was super exciting to recognise the area and parts of Singapore, I loved the hugeness of the city and the weird conglomeration of culture, and the ease of communication compared to other parts of Asia. A great place to end up in with a few spare days!
